Mother Nature Prevails - Again at Tri-County
Speedway
For
Immediate Release
Hendersonville,
North Carolina (April 11, 2009) - Friday
April 10th the UARA STARS and Pro Challenge cars
rolled into Tri County Speedway with a full day of activities
planned.It began
as a sunny morning near 60 degrees and went down hill later in
the day.Cars
are rolling thru inspection and preparing for practice when
the rains began.It
rained for a spell then the Tri County track crew set to work.
The
track gets dried and UARA officials produce a revised daily
schedule.The two
UARA practice sessions will be rolled into one and lose only
thirty minutes time.Practice begins and the drivers are pumped.Twenty nine drivers hit the grid.
Coleman Pressley sets the pace with the
fastest practice time followed by Paddy Rodenbeck, Richard
Boswell, Matt McCall and Andy Loden being the top five
quickest.
Kyle Grissom had the tenth fastest
practice time but his day was looking bleak as it appeared to
be ending on a sad note.Grissom suffered mechanical problems, possibly a wheel and
his car was stopped in turn four and will head to the pits via
a wrecker.Mother
Nature could be his best friend of the day.
Practice goes very well with a few spins
etc but the show is on go.
The Pro Challenge drivers hit the track
for their practice session and all goes well.Kyle Benjamin set the fast time for these young men.
THEN the rains begin again without
mercy.UARA
officials are glued to the weather satellite but in the end it
appears this race will be a wash. After much deliberation it is finally decided before
the grandstands even get a chance to open that the show will
be cancelled.
Due to the Easter Holiday and the fact
many families had pre existing plans it was decided this event
will be rescheduled on May 22.
The UARA gave it their best shot but it
just was not meant to be on this day.
The
UARA-STARS will be in action again at Rockingham Speedway;
April 18, 2009.
Practice
and qualifying for Rockingham will be on Friday April 17,
2009.Pit
registration will begin at 6:30 Friday with qualifying at 4pm.
