Champions
Decided in Final Point Night at TCMS
Hudson,
North Carolina (August 27, 2010) - The
Final Points Night here at the Tri-County Motor Speedway will
go down in the record books as a night of great NASCAR short
track racing action, a large fan crowd was on hand to witness
the event. and some of the best short track drivers in the
country were ready to showcase their talent behind the wheel,
excitement and anticipation was in the air as drivers in
several classes were locked into tight points battles and knew
that one mishap on track could make or break their entire
season!
In
The Late Model 50 lapper the points championship was already
sewn up for 2010 with Grant Wimbish clenching the title on Aug
20th but that did nothing to slow him down as he took the
checkered flag after winning the pole earlier in the day,
first time TCMS competitor Harrison Rhodes looked like a
seasoned veteran as he claimed the runner up spot and D4D
driver Jessica Brunelli came home with a 3rd place finish, Not
to be forgotten Lee Faulk Racing driver Tyler Brown finished
his year second in points for the second consecutive year at
TCMS
The
Tightest points battle was in the Limited Late Model
division with only 6 points separating Waylon Flynn and Tyler
Church going into the season finale, It was any man's
championship to win but Flynn was not to be denied as he was
flawless on the night with a pole a win in the 35 lap event
and the 2010 TCMS Limited Late Model driving title. Tyler
Church gave it all he had but came up 8 points short and had
to settle for second in the feature and in the points battle,
Josh Goble came home with yet another top 3 finish as he
rounded out the podium
The
Late Model Super Truck Class Ricky Dennie came in with a 26
point advantage over second place in points Dominick Casola
needing just to start the event to walk away 2010 TCMS Truck
champ but he did more than that, Dennie fought hard to the end
coming home with a 3rd place finish ending his season
with a 32 point advantage over Casola, to claim Championship
honors, Brandon Setzer was the winner of the event, his 5th
win of the season he was also the fastest qualifier, and young
Jake Marlowe was impressive with his second place finish
In
the Street Stock Division It was Charlie Watson Taking home
the checkered flag for the second week in a row but all eyes
were on Marshall Sutton as he powered his number 64 to a
second place finish and in doing so was crowned the 2010 TCMS
Street Stock driving Champion he defeated Roy Smith by 34
points as Roy finished in the third spot
Dan
Moore took home the win yet again in the Renegade Division but
it was the red number 4 of Greg Austin who took home the
season Title as he finished a close second in the 20 lap
event 2009 champ Dillion Crouch finished third in the event
and in doing so finished the year second in Renegade points
Tri-County
Motor Speedway would like to congratulate all of our 2010
NASCAR Points Champions as well as each and every driver, crew
member and fan that came out and supported us for the 2010
season! please keep up with our website as we look forward to
the 2011 NASCAR Whelen All American Series Season where we
will continue to Run all 5 of our regular divisions as well as
a host of exciting special events. But don't forget the 2010
TCMS season still has a lot more racing coming up, On
September 25th we will be hosting the NASCAR Whelen Southern
Modified Tour Series for a 150 lap event as well as the Late
Model Super Truck's in a 50 lap event. And in less than 2
months TCMS will be hosting the 3rd annual Halloween Havoc
Event with 150 laps for the Limited Late Model's and 50 laps
for the Street Stock Racer's
